Local Bar Bids Farewell as Owner Shifts Focus to New Priorities

Harrison’s dining and cocktail spot, On The Rocks (OTR), has recently closed its doors after opening in July 2022. The bar brought new excitement to The District, offering residents and visitors a fresh option for casual dining and entertainment. However, with the arrival of several competing venues in the area, business became more challenging over time.

Owner and Manager Elizabeth Janszen shared that financial difficulties influenced her decision to close. "We weren't bringing in the money to get through the slow [season]," she explained.

Looking ahead, Elizabeth plans to prioritize family and personal commitments. "Right now, my focus is being a good and present mom, taking care of my mom, and finding a job that doesn't require me to be available 12 hours a day, 7 days a week," she said.
